Howdy, my name is Beth Boone, and I am a 5th generation Calhoun County cattle rancher. This year, I have two heavily-bred, family-raised, chocolate, Simbrah heifers to show and sell at the Calhoun County Fair. They were bred to my Angus bull. We are expecting for #35 to calve soon. #36 should be about a month behind her, but we will confirm with palpation the week before the fair. #36 is “puppy dog” gentle, and follows me around the pasture to receive my affection. I have been developing my heifers by spending time with them to build their trust, moving them around pastures, and working them through the pens and chute. I think I have developed these heifers just about as good as anyone could. They are healthy and have been vaccinated on a vet-suggested schedule.
I hope to see you at the Calhoun County Youth Commercial Heifer Auction this year. I acknowledge that it has been a dry year, but we are grateful for the recent rain. If you are shopping, I think you will be pleased with the quality of heifers that our youth ranchers have available. If you aren’t in the market for more heifers, but you still want to help local youth, there is also an option to contribute an “add-on” gift of any amount to any exhibitor. You may send an add-on gift to any exhibitor online on in-person at the auction. Every dollar that I earn at the fair is saved for my college fund, and my goal is to attend medical school in the future. If you have any questions about my heifers, or the program in general, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at 361-920-2698. Also, I will be posting updates and reminders closer to the fair on my ranch's Facebook page - Boones Farm Cattle
